Adolescent Therapy

Adolescent therapy is an important part of what we do at Waystone. We know how challenging it can be when your child is struggling and you are at a loss for how to help them. Our team is devoted to being a warm, effective resource for your child as well as you.

Youth under 18 years old need a specialized approach to therapy because their brains work differently than adult brains do. Plus, their bodies and minds are constantly changing depending on what developmental phase they are in! Having a therapist who understands and adapts to these unique differences can make a huge positive impact on your child’s mental health.

Child and Adolescent Therapy

We also understand that children and teens are influenced not only by their life events, but also by those of their parents, siblings, and close relatives. For this reason, we are passionate about exploring and healing the effects of intergenerational trauma and crises that affect the family at multiple levels.

For adolescent therapy, we work with a range of presenting issues such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief
  • Self-esteem
  • Identity
  • Bullying and school issues
  • Attention and learning difficulties
  • Neurodiversity
  • Relationship issues
  • Intergenerational trauma

For individual adolesscent therapy, Karis and Kiki work with teens ages 16-18. They also work together as co-therapists to help support clients’ siblings, parents, and families as a whole. For family therapy, they work with teens 14 and older.
