Overcoming Codependency Groups

Waystone offers group therapy for both men and women seeking to break patterns of codependence in their lives. Women who wrestle with codependence often struggle to have a voice and feel resentful, overly responsible, and overwhelmed in relationships. Men who wrestle with codependence find it difficult to set boundaries, lose their sense of self in relationships, or feel responsible for others’ emotions and outcomes. Codependency is an issue where group support can be especially powerful—the chance to hear from others, share experiences, support each other, and learn together can be deeply healing.

These groups aim to help participants build emotional strength, develop healthier relational patterns, and reconnect with their own identity. The book Codependent No More is the foundation of the group curriculum, along with added teaching, process time, and experiential exercises to deepen the work. Topics covered include: gaining insight into unhelpful patterns, unhealthy family rules, boundaries, self-care, emotional awareness and regulation, and identifying and overcoming negative thought patterns.

Group Details

These are closed, structured groups that meet twice a month for 8 sessions. Each session is 90 minutes, usually from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm. Groups are run twice per year, with opportunities to participate in the Fall and Spring. The Fall group typically begins in August, and the Spring group kicks off in February.

The cost is $60 per session, which equates to $30 per therapy hour, a very affordable option over the traditional cost per therapy hour! In order to ensure that all participants have adequate time to share and process, we limit the group size to a maximum of 6 members.
